There is a well-known t-shirt that says NEED MONEY FOR PORSCHE. It is a joke about wanting something out of reach.
This is the other version.
NEED MONEY FOR CAR PARTS, hand-lettered across the back in white paint that is still dripping, because the Porsche was never the problem. The problem is the thing already sitting in the driveway, half apart since March, waiting on a component that costs more than it should from a seller who ships when he feels like it. A Porsche is a fantasy you get to enjoy. A wheel bearing is a Tuesday you have to survive.
Four lines, all caps, painted on in a hurry. It should read like something written on a workshop wall rather than set in a typeface, because that is the register the sentence belongs to.
The front is blank. The joke arrives once you have walked past.
Part of Racing Development, which is where the studio keeps the work about machines and the people who keep them running. Printed on the same faded black oversized blank as the rest of the line, garment-dyed, so it turns up already looking like it has been leaned over a fender.
